Dubai plate ownership transfer

Steps

1. Agree the price privately — payment happens outside government systems.
2. The seller starts the plate-transfer request in the Dubai Drive app.
3. The seller needs: the buyer's Emirates ID number, mobile number, and Traffic Code.
4. Both parties sign the sale agreement digitally via UAE Pass — no physical presence needed.
5. The buyer receives the ownership certificate by email and SMS.

• A plate can be held without a vehicle (ownership certificate / number reservation).
• RTA never holds the payment — arrange it safely between you.

Safety rules

1. Never pay before the official transfer is initiated in the government system.
2. For high-value deals: complete payment at the authority (manager's cheque), or stage it — deposit, then balance after transfer confirmation.
3. Verify the seller's ownership document with the authority before paying.
4. The bank account name must match the seller's identity.
5. Never share OTP codes or UAE Pass credentials — the platform and authorities never ask for them.
